Exotic location like Srilanka is a complete fun for planning your vacation, but not unless you feel at home. At least I did not grapple with such issues under the umbrella of Country Vacation Srilanka. With an absolute desire to enjoy this lovely island, I asked Country Vacation to plan a random vacation for me, just like a blind date. I swear this turned out to be a great idea indeed and Country Vacation Srilanka didnt disappoint.

It started not with beaches but Sinharaja forest, which is considered to be one of the affluent reserves in terms of flora and fauna. I was amazed to observe this large variety of species here, and it was then that I realized why people called it a virgin forest. Country Vacation Srilanka motive was now clearly visible for me. Country vacation had planned to show me an island which Marco Polo considered finest on earth.

This was just the beginning, as the next spot decided for me by Country vacation was again a virgin beach, at Arugam Bay. This was the first truly unspoilt beach I discovered thanks to Country Vacation. Your Ica Peru vacation is located about 300 kilometers from Lima. Ica city was founded in 1563 by Luis Jernimo de Cabrera and the area was host to several ancient cultures, including Paracas, Wari, Nasca and Ica, dating back some 10,000 years.

Spanish occupation left behind beautiful colonial architecture, with the Cathedral of Ica being the most impressive. Critics claim the stones to be falsified, while advocates claim that the stones are from an extremely ancient, advanced culture that lived alongside the dinosaurs. A few minutes from the city of Ica lies the Huacachina oasis where Peruvians and tourist go to relax in the warm, dry climate. Legend says that the oasis was created after a native princess was spotted by a young hunter while she was bathing. When she fled, the pool of water she had been bathing in became an oasis. The woman is rumored to still live in the oasis as a mermaid. Every Valentine’s Day there is a recreation of the legend on the oasis, with a former Miss Peru playing the part of the princess. You’ll see several locals bathing in the oasis as it is believed that the sulfur-rich waters have curative properties.

The Huacachina is surrounded by giant sand dunes. The areas favorite sport is sandboarding. Dune buggy rides are also a popular activity. No Ica Peru vacation would be complete without a visit to the Huacachina.

Since the 19th century Cachiche, also known as The Witches City, has been famous in Peru for its witches, located just 4 kilometers from Ica city. Cachiche’s first witch, Doa Julia, would heal and help villagers with her white magic. Outside the witches’ principle residence is a statue to honor her.

For a few soles the witches will interpret your current status, and predict your future, by reading your palm or by consulting the tarot cards. Cachiche’s witches have become well-known in Peru for their startling accuracy.

Nearby is an old, abandoned house, known as “The Devil’s House.” As locals tell the story, a foreigner once lived there who would practice black magic. One day the house was in perfect condition, and the next left the house in a state of ruin for reasons unknown. If you wish to see specters of the supernatural you will need to visit the house at the stroke of midnight. However, be certain that you are completely covered in feces to protect yourself from black magic.

Not far from the witch’s residence grows a remarkable palm tree with 7 heads that twists like giant snakes. In 1987 a Cachiche witch died at the age of 106. On her death-bed she declared that Ica would be destroyed sometime after the seventh head of the palm tree grows. In 1997, an El Nio year, flooding plagued the area. Locals went to cut off the tree’s seventh head, but the flooding stopped before they did so.

On August 15th, 2007 an earthquake reaching a magnitude of 8.0 on the moment magnitude scale devastated Ica, destroying over 58,000 homes in the area. The earthquake ripped northwards through Pisco, with ripples of it being felt in Lima. Most of the points of interest in Ica are still intact, and people are working hard to rebuild the city, but when planning your Ica Peru vacation make sure beforehand that things are running smoothly.

Aruba Each year for the last 19 years, visitors and residents of Aruba, along with environmentalists, have come together for the Aruba Reef Care Project.

It’s easy to modify your basic packing list into a tropical vacation packing list. We are always amazed at the amount of luggage that some people take to Hawaii or the Caribbean or any tropical destination. If a destination is tropical, it is by definition hot and humid… how many clothes do you really need?

Tropical destinations ring the earth around the equator where the sun is stronger, so be prepared for sun with plenty of sunscreen and a broad brimmed hat. If you’re sensitive to the sun, you might want to pack a lightweight long sleeved shirt and long pants…. There are some companies that make clothing with sun blocking material.

The dress in most tropical destinations is casual because of the heat and humidity, so that makes it easy to pack light. Take your basic packing list and go “heavy” on short sleeves and bathing suits.

You need to take into consideration what kind of culture you will be visiting. We think travelers should always try to dress appropriately for the countries they are traveling to. If you are going to Malaysia, remember it’s predominately Muslim, and to be sensitive to their culture, you should dress conservatively. You’ll want to cover up more than you will need to in Hawaii or the Caribbean.

Of course, what you include in that tropical vacation packing list will depend on what you plan to do on your vacation. Will you be scuba diving? Bicycling or sailing? Hiking in rain forests? Sitting on the beach all day?

It’s a good idea to get clothing that washes easily in your room and drip dries overnight. Hot and humid means you will be perspiring more than usual.

Some of the articles on your tropical vacation packing list will be on all of your packing lists… there are just some things you need to take with you on every trip. Those things pretty much never come out of our suitcases. Here’s our starting list… you can use it for YOUR tropical vacation packing list… but, as always, you have to modify it and make it your own.

For women… shorts, culottes, and T-shirts or cotton blouses are great.
Take one long sleeved blouse, and a sweater.
You’ll need long pants for the evening.
Two swim suits (so you’ll always have a dry one to put on.)
A cover up for public areas away from the pool or beach.
A skirt for dress up.

For men… you’ll also want shorts and t-shirts.
One long sleeved shirt and a sweater
One or two pairs of long pants
Collared shirts for evening.
Two swim suits.

Everyone should take a light rain jacket or poncho… it rains in the tropics! Sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat are musts. You’ll want sandals for beach wear… try to take something that you can wear off the beach too. Shoes for walking.

Besides the usual amenities of shampoo and toothpaste and cosmetics, you’ll want sunscreen and insect repellant. You want a camera and any electronics you can’t do without.

We shouldn’t have to remind you to take an ample amount of any prescription medications you take on a routine basis…. And pack any medications you need for this trip… things like malaria pills as well as aspirin and a small first aid kit.

A tropical vacation should be light and fun… your tropical vacation packing list should reflect that. Pack light!
